Hello Everyone, I am Kimberley.

When talking about sex education for Chinese teenagers, what will come to your mind first? For me, this reminds me of an interesting memory.

Almost every Chinese child has asked his or her parents the question: Where did I come from? When I asked my parents, they told me, "I picked you up out of the trash." This funny little story actually shows the current state of teenager sex education in China over the years.

Sex is inevitable in human life. However, in Chinese society, in the classroom, and in the family, sex is considered a taboo subject. According to the survey, 73.5% of Chinese teenagers think that they have never received any sex education knowledge from school. 86.6% of Chinese teenagers believe that they have received little to no sex education from their parents. From this data, we can see that sex education is missing in China.

When teens learn about sex knowledge, they always learn from parents, teachers, friends or the Internet.

However, through these means, can they really get professional sex education?

No. Neither parents, teachers, nor peers have received professional sex education themselves, because there are not professional enough sex education teaching methods in China, which makes it difficult for teenagers to learn sex knowledge.

For this problem, we need to make sure the primary audience first.

The primary audience are teenagers, parents and teachers.

After analyzing the problem and audiences, I decided to use graphic design to help Chinese teenagers learn more about sex. According to the articles and data I researched, I picked the three most important insights and developed the following strategies.

First, teenagers enjoy learning most when they are learning from peers. Therefore, we should create more ways for teenagers to learn sex knowledge from other teens.

Second, the current sex education products are not creative and funny enough. Teens like learning sex knowledge in a light-hearted way. Therefore, we should provide more creative and funny ways for teenagers to learn sex knowledge.

Third, adults do not get enough information to learn how to teach sex education to teens. Therefore, we should provide more resources for adults to learn how to teach sex education.

According to these strategies, I picked three workable deliverables.

First deliverable is an APP. According to the strategy, in order to create more ways for teenagers to learn sex knowledge from other teens, APP is the best choice. Almost all the teens enjoys playing phone. In this APP, teens can learn sex knowledge by watching videos, chatting with friends and sharing stories.

Second deliverable is a sex museum. According to the strategy, we need to provide more creative and funny ways for teenagers. Therefore, in this sex museum, teens can view sex artworks, watch sex education movies and learn legal ways to protect themselves by experiencing sexual assaults cases in a  role playing games.

The last deliverable is a guidance book. In order to provide more resources for adults, the guidance book can guide the teachers and parents how to teach teens sex education knowledge in an appropriate way.

I think through these three means, we can help Chinese teenagers to learn more sex knowledge in a better way.
